**Sony [Intern] Researcher – Haptics**
Description[Position Summary]

Currently, vibration stimulation is the prevailing haptic technology utilized in mainstream products. However, our focus lies in developing a haptic technology capable of replicating diverse haptic sensations unable to be reproduced by vibration. With the utilization of this technology, we can achieve a sense of operation and UI in XR/remote environments that closely mimics reality, enabling us to enhance the overall sense of immersion and presence.
Presently, we engage in research and development across various domains, from wideband vibrotactile presentation to force and pressure presentation, while developing sensing technologies essential for haptic presentation.

Main offices of Sony Corporation are located at Shinagawa, Osaki, Minatomirai(Yokohama)and Atsugi in Japan.

[Responsibilities]

Research and development of novel haptic technologies (haptics) to provide realistic immerisive experiences and next-generation UI that would be impossible to achieve with current haptic technologies.
- Development of device and control system for haptics

- Development of tactile sensor devices and control systems

- Quantification of haptic perception

- Development of haptic interaction for XR and remote environments

[Required qualifications]

- Experience or expertise in haptic devices

- Experience or expertise in haptic sensing technologies

- Haptic perception mechanisms

- Experience in application development or data analysis of haptic technologies

[Preferred qualifications]

- Programming (C++, C#, etc.)

- Game Engines (Unity, Unreal Engine, etc.)

- CAD (Fusion360, NX, etc.)

- Vision and Imagination:
Envision the possibilities of what can be achieved through the application of haptic technologies.
Think creatively and translate their ideas into new UX concepts and prototypes.
