MERCI: Mixed curvature-based elements for computing equilibria of thin elastic ribbons
DescriptionRibbons are thin elastic structures lying in between rods and plates. Relying on the 1D Wunderlich ribbon model, we propose mixed position-curvature elements for computing ribbon equilibria subject to arbitrary boundary constraints. Our simulator is carefully validated on subtle scenarios such as Möbius bands or confined and lateral transverse buckling.
