ACM SIGGRAPH Practitioners Session: Changes and Opportunities in the Workplace, in your Career, and What it Means for You
DescriptionThe SIGGRAPH Practitioners Sessions are in-person sessions for practitioners at the conference to have discussions, with like-minded peers, on professional development in our industries, including but not limited to different approaches to creating and scoping engineering projects, developing tech stacks, and identifying opportunities for taking research to practice and the productization journey thereof.

IN THIS SESSION
There are many opportunities to practice computer graphics and interactive techniques across different industries. But you may have questions about:
- What interdisciplinary opportunities are out there for computer graphics professionals;
- Which career path is right for you;
- Whether your skills in one industry are transferable to another;
- What you are passionate about and whether you enjoy what you’re currently doing;
- What your career goals should be in a changing job market;
- Whether there are new opportunities for you to grow, gain new skills, and step up;

These are big questions that are important to ask at any point in one’s professional career. In this session, we will have an open discussion on the current state of career development in computer graphics, how these opportunities can continue to challenge and excite us as computing professionals, and how we can better equip ourselves to handle changes at work, in one’s career and in the industry as a whole.
