Arata HORIE obtained his Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering from Tokyo University of Science and later pursued his Master’s in Engineering from Tohoku University, Japan, graduating in 2019. He was received his Ph.D. in Engineering from The University of Tokyo in 2022. Following this, he secured a position as a Project Assistant Professor at the Research Center of Advanced Science and Technology, The University of Tokyo. In 2023, he began his involvement in the Cybernetic Being project, sponsored by the Japan government’s Moonshot R&D program, in his capacity as a Project Assistant Professor. His primary research interests lie in haptics and inter-subjective experiences. Beyond academia, he founded commissure Inc., a startup specializing in haptic technology.
