Hirokazu Tsukaya
Biography
Dr. Hirokazu Tsukaya took up his current position as Professor at the University of Tokyo after working at the Institute of Molecular and Cellular Bioscience, The University of Tokyo as an Assistant Professor from 1993 to 1999 and then at National Institute for Basic Biology, Okazaki Research Institutes, Japan from 1999 to 2005. His interests cover wide range of plant science, from developmental genetics, evolutionary developmental biology, physiology, anatomy, and taxonomy. Recently he is also interested in collaboration with human-machine cooperation. He has received several awards, including the Young Scientist Award, Botanical Society of Japan and Japanese Society of Plant Morphology (both 1996), the Young Scientist Award, Japanese Society of Plant Physiologists (2002), JSPS Award, Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (2008), Incentive Award, K.Matsushita Foundation of EXPO '90 prize (2014), BSJ Academic Prize, Botanical Society of Japan (2016), Society Award, Japanese Society of Plant Morphology (2019) and the Medal with Purple Ribbon, Japanese Government (2021).
