He received B.S., M.S. and Ph.D. from University of Tokyo in 1982, 1984, and 1987, respectively. From 1987 to 2004, he was associate professor and professor of Seikei University. Currently, he is professor of Waseda University. His research interests include Computer Graphics, Computer Vision, Multimodal Signal Processing and Human Computer Interaction. He was a general chair of ACM VRST 2018 and Pacific Graphics 2022. He received IEICE-J achievement award in 1992 and the Telecom System Technology Award in 2010. He received CG Japan Award from the society of Art and Science in 2020 and IBM Academic Award in 2021.
