John Kalaigian is the supervisor of the CG department at Hornet, an award-winning commercial advertising and mixed-media animation studio located in New York City. His passions include crafting high-end visualization, blending design with technology to apply methods both old and new to solve creative challenges. Away from professional commitments, he is an avid fan of filmmaking history, specifically visual and/or special effects. John enjoys being active, where you can find him either running, playing tennis, soccer, ice hockey, and skiing. He has served as program chair for SIGGRAPH 2021 Production Sessions, as well as a subcommittee member of the SIGGRAPH 2023 Electronic Theater and SIGGRAPH 2020 and 2022 Production Sessions.

As the Electronic Theater Director, John oversees the submissions and entries, jury selection, and showcase of the Academy Award-qualifying Computer Animation Festival Electronic Theater.
