Victor Ostromoukhov is a professor at Université de Lyon 1/CNRS. He graduated from Phys-Tech (MIPT, Moscow, 1980). He started his academic career in 1980, spending several years at the Globe Research Institute, part of the Russian Academy of Science. He completed his PhD at EFPL, Switzerland in 1994, after which he spent five years as a Lecturer and Researcher at EFPL. He also spent a year as a Visiting Professor at the University of Washington (1997), at Hebrew University in Jerusalem (2016), at Stanford University (2017) and another year as a Research Scientist at MIT (1999-2000). In 2000, he joined the faculty of the University of Montreal, Canada, as an Associate Professor. Since 2009, he has been a Full Professor at the University of Lyon, France, where he holds a distinguished chair of ANR, the French equivalent of NSF. He regularly serves on Editorial Boards of several prestigious journals and on Program Committees of the key conferences in computer graphics, such as SIGGRAPH, SIGGRAPH Asia, Eurographics, NPAR, EGSR, CGI, etc. His research interests lie mainly in computer graphics, in photorealistic and non-photorealistic rendering, in Monte Carlo and Quasi-Monte Carlo sampling, in digital halftoning, in color science and in mathematical foundations of computer graphics.
