Biography
Yifang Wang is currently a Post-Doctoral Fellow in the Center for Science of Science and Innovation (CSSI) at Kellogg School of Management, Northwestern University. Before that, she obtained a Ph.D. degree in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering from The Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST, 2022) and a B.Eng. degree from Zhejiang University (ZJU, 2018). Her research lies at the intersection of Data Visualization (VIS), Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), and Computational Social Science (CSS) and Digital Humanities (DH). She aims to apply visualization, artificial intelligence, and data analysis techniques to understand, communicate, and inform decisions regarding essential questions about human behavior and society, covering domains such as Science of Science & Innovation, Social Mobility & Inequity, Public Health, Communication, and others. The outcomes of her research include not only use-inspired visual analytics systems for social scientists and analysts but also data-driven artworks that intuitively convey insights to the general public.
