SUMMARY:A Linear Method to Consistently Orient Normals of a 3D Point Cloud
DESCRIPTION:Craig Gotsman (New Jersey Institute of Technology (NJIT)) and
Kai Hormann (Università della Svizzera Italiana)\n\nConsistently orienting
the normals of a point cloud is vital for subsequent geometry processing.
We use Stokes' theorem to turn this problem into finding the least-square
s solution of a sparse linear system. Our method successfully orients norm
als computed locally from a point cloud and is considerably faster than st
 ate-of-the-art methods.\n\nInterest Area: Research & Education\n\nRecordin
